music/ cd classifications

album
An album typically has approximately 30-80 minutes of music.

EP
Extended play has longer playing time than single but contains too little music to be eligible as LP. Generally, 10-28 minutes; however, Official UK Chart Rules delineated the differences between EP and others at 25-minute playing time and maximum of four song titles, plus alternative versions of featured songs. Audio content–song allowance and alternative versions of those songs–is limited by total playing time and video content.

LP, mini-LP
Long play is 33.33 rpm vinyl gramophone records or phonograph records, 10 or 12 inches diameter in general. Mini-LP has more or less 20-30 minutes of music. For more information on phonograph records, click here.

single
Up to ten minutes of total playing time, a single record usually encloses a song title, with a few other tracks, from current or forthcoming album for promotional purposes.
